Sounds Of India Concert

The rich history of Indian classical music comes to Kyogle. A dynamic and deeply moving world music concert.

This is the 2nd Indian music event with dinner and show held at The Sugar Bowl.  The last concert was a sellout and this one is sure to be just as popular.

Kyogle local singer Jo Kelly joins flute virtuoso Vinod Prasana from Melbourne accompanied by tabla player Rodney Wright from Byron.

Vinod captures the hearts of his audience with emotive melodies, exquisitely improvised rhythms and stirring beauty.  His sublime flute songs soar over tabla drums and harmonium drones taking you on a dynamic and deeply moving journey of sound.

Jo is an award winning singer and joins Vinod and Rodney to sing her songs.  Together they will weave mystical improvisations and heart stirring melodies bringing the Sounds Of India to you.

Date: Saturday September 30th

Venue:  The Sugar Bowl Cafe And Bar  137 Summerland Way, Kyogle

About The Musicians

Vinod Prasana (Melbourne)

Born into one of India’s greatest flute-playing families, Vinod shines as an outstanding performer of authentic traditional and contemporary Indian music.  He is a world class musician, award winning virtuoso and heir to the musical treasure of his ancestors. Vinod commands the stage with grace and tenacity, captivating passion and technical brilliance. Wherever he plays in the world, he captures the hearts of his audiences with his wonderful performance style.

Jo Kelly (Kyogle)

Jo is an award winning songwriter and her song Himalaya won the 2015 Dolphin Award for best adult contemporary. Originally from Sydney and now a Kyogle local, Jo’s enjoyed a varied music career singing jazz, cabaret and pop styles, but her true musical heart was untouched until she traveled to India.  She discovered exotic instruments, classical raga and ancient mantras that inspired her true musical voice. After India an abundance of songs came forth and she released her debut album Letting Love In with the award winning track Himalaya and she’s written, recorded and released 5 yoga music titles under the brand Cafe Mantra Music.

Rodney Wright (Byron Bay)

Rodney learned the art of tabla under his guruji, Kedarnath Bhowmick of Varanasi. In India  he studied various styles including Banaras, Lucknow and Delhi.
